Isi Perjanjian Bongaya 1667 - Perjanjian Bongaya / Bongaja adalah kesepakatan yang berisi perjanjian perdamaian antara Sultan Hassanudin dari Kesultanan Gowa / Kerajaan Makassar dengan Laksamana Cornelis Speelman dari phial Hindia Belanda (VOC) pada tanggal 18 November 1667. Tulisan atau nama asli dari perjanjian ini adalah Perjanjian Bungaya.

Latar Belakang Perjanjian Bongaya


Latar belakang lahirnya Perjanjian Bongaya ialah karena terjadinya peperanagan besar antara kerajaan Gowa pada masa pemerintahan Sultan Hasanuddin dengan Kolonial Belanda pada tahun 1653 - 1669. Selain itu Sultan Hasanuddin di adu dombakan dengan Aru Palaka ari Soppeng-Bone pada tahun 1660 oleh Belanda, sehingga Sultan Hasanuddin terdesak maka pihak Belanda membantu dan mempunyai siasat yang tidak baik kepada Kerajaan Gowa, dan ternyata mengalami kekalahan sehingga Belanda memaksa Sultan Hasanuddin untuk menandatangani perjanjian perdamaian yang disebut dengan Perjanjian Bongaya yang bertempat di desa Bungaya pada tahun 1667.

Isi Perjanjian Bongaya
  1. VOC menguasai monopoli perdagangan di Sulawesi Selatan dan Sulawesi Tenggara.
  2. Makasar harus melepas seluruh daerah bawahannya, seperti Sopeng, Luwu, Wajo, dan Bone.
  3. Aru Palaka dikukuhkan sebagai Raja Bone.
  4. Makasar harus menyerahkan seluruh benteng-bentengnya.
  5. Makasar harus membayar biaya perang dalam bentuk hasil bumi kepada VOC setiap tahun.

Perjanjian Bongaya ini sangat merugikan rakyat Indonesia, dan persatuan rakyat di Makasar menjadi hancur karena politik adu domba terhadap Sultan Hasanudin dan Aru Palaka. Dari kejadian ini, Selain disibukan menghadapi Belanda dan di adu domba dengan Aru Palaka, Sultan Hasanuddin tidak pantang menyerah dan selalu mempunyai semngat juang yang berkobar sehingga beliau dijuluki Ayam Jantan dari Timur.
